Swing Easy Golf Reviews Tom Wishon Technology 550c and 550m Forged Irons.

5 Iron - 550c Forged Cavity Back with Wishon Series 5 S Shaft.
6 Iron - 550m Forged Muscle Back with Wishon Series 5 S Shaft.

12/09/03 -- Indianapolis, Indiana

I started out slow, working with my own gap wedge and getting loose, but let me tell you how hard it was to have these two irons staring out at me from my bag of Precept Tour Premium forged CB's. These clubs scream hit me, hit me! Tenacity being one of my strengths, I managed to work up through my bag, skipping over the two fresh beauties with great trepidation. Finally, I was warmed up. I took out the 6 iron muscle back and took a few feel swings, very well balanced I thought. The feel reminded me of the big name 690mb's and the look was inspiring to say the least. I felt like a golfer and I hadn't even launched a ball yet. This club came out firing. I know this range pretty well and there is a green flag out about 160 on the angle I was hitting to. I started hitting balls high and straight at the flag. Within just a few swings I was ready to start trying to work the ball. Amazing! I went for the 5 iron cavity back and was very impressed with the fact their was hardly any noticeable difference in the look or feel switching from mb to cb. Again, I started out hitting the 5 iron out to the blue flag in front of me at about 170 yards. High, straight and sailing over the green a good ten yards or more. Immediately I started trying a high cut, and then a high draw, and all of sudden I was utterly awash in disappointment. I only had two of these unbelievable irons with me. I wanted to go play, or pretend I was playing or ... sheesh, I want the rest of the set.

Lucky for me I get to work with Wishon Golf again. This time I called up to join the TW Gold Program and luckily, Mike Duggan answered the phone. Mike had helped me before when my inadequacies on their well designed web site had left me with two orders to ship instead of just one. He graciously combined them for me as if it were no big deal. Try that at Golfsmith sometime. Mike spent a great deal of time with me and not only enrolled me in the Gold Program, but took extra time on his own to walk me through their web site and show me the ropes and what advanced tools I could find as a TW Gold member. Again, I was very impressed. I ordered a full combo set of 550 irons and Series 5 steel shafts and because I joined the program, he shipped my order for free. Whooo hoooo.

While I was waiting on these awesome heads to arrive I went shopping for more on eBay. I found a set and actually won the auction. They arrived a few days ago and I was a bit disappointed because they had been assembled with TT lites instead of the Wishon Series 5 shafts. As you can tell from the rest of this web site, I'm all Wishon, all the time. Right now I'm in a holding pattern just learning more about assembling clubs, frequency matching and MOI. The golf index is stuck on zero right now, so I'm not as excited to get a set on the ground, but when I do, I'll be sure to post how it's going.

Take care and don't forget to Swing Easy.
